NEW FUTURE FOR LEADING ANGLING PUBLISHER

Specialist angling magazine company, David Hall Publishing (DHP) has become part of the well-established publishing and e-commerce group, MyTime Media.

DHP lost its founder and majority shareholder with the death of David Hall, in 2015.  Over 40 years he had built up a stable of magazines and events focused on fishing, Britain’s most popular past-time. They include Total Carp, the UK’s biggest selling carp magazine and Match Fishing, which has become the bible for all the anglers fishing the competition scene.

DHP managing director Sean O‘Driscoll announced the tie-up with MyTime Media and said : “When David died we obviously knew that the days of DHP remaining independent would have to end so my task has been to find the best home for the publications,

“We spent many months looking for the right owner with the vision and investment to allow DHP to flourish in what we all know are challenging times for publishers. MyTime Media ticked all the boxes and although this is its first venture into angling it already operates across a dozen popular specialist hobbies and pastimes markets with audiences as dedicated as those found in angling..”

DHP retains its own identity and has moved to a new HQ premises in Daventry – the town where it has traded for the past 12 years. It is from this base that the team will continue to publish five fishing consumer titles, two global trade magazines and run its three exhibitions - all angling related.

Peter Harkness Chairman of MyTime Media who founded the company with CEO Owen Davies said: “Owen and I have grown this company steadily for 11 years by focusing on hobbies which create a real buzz and loyalty among their followers. Angling has been an obvious gap in our line-up and we have been looking at possible acquisitions for a while. We’re delighted to have concluded this deal with DHP.

“Sean and Owen have plans to develop both the publishing and the events divisions of DHP and I am sure that David Hall’s legacy will flourish in our group.”
